Note:
It is quite common for the shafts to have a hard surface material applied to the packing area, often times beginning close to the blade and ending just beyond the face of the stuffing box. If this is the case on your machine, please record how far beyond the stuffing box face it extends and any diametrical difference. Also, if there is a shoulder machined on the shaft between the face of the stuffing box and the first obstruction, please record where it occurs (from the face of the stuffing box) and the diametrical difference
